Project Summary


Spliced, Precast Concrete U-Girder Bridge

The Project consists of a four span structure for West Bijou Street from Interstate Highway 25 into downtown Colorado Springs. The bridge crosses over Monument Creek and Union Pacific Railroad. The bridge consists of precast, post-tensioned, curved concrete U-girders. The bridge was erected with an erection scheme utilizing strongbacks, and did not use any support from the ground. Span lengths vary from 104 ft to 149 ft, girder spacing varies from 13 ft to 10 ft and 23 ft to 4 ft. Deck widths vary from 96 ft to 178 ft.
