Project Summary


Spliced, Precast Concrete U-Girder Bridge

This bridge carries Interstate SH120 over the Arkansas River and UPRR near Florence, Colorado. The bridge is made up of four spans of spliced, precast, pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete U-Girders supporting full depth precast deck panels which are pre-tensioned transversely and post-tensioned longitudinally. The spans lengths are 80'-9" ft, 112 ft, 145 ft & 71'-3" ft. The existing structure to be removed was built in 1927 and is comprised of 7 cast-in-place spans and one 150 ft steel truss.

  • Value Engineering, redesign of all bridge elements from conventional steel girder bridge to precast girders, precast deck panels, and integral substructure
  • Demolition engineering plans for removal of existing structures including evaluation of truss for equipment loads & lifting
