McCaslin Arch over US36, Louisville, Colorado
Project Summary
Tied Steel Arch Bridge Placement
The steel arch bridge was assembled along the North edge of US36 on concrete thrust blocks. Due to the permanent barrier in the center of US36 two cranes were necessary to move the South end of the bridge from the assembly area to the South abutment. Stresses in the bridge were calculated to determine that it could be safely lifted, and passed between cranes, during the erection process. The steel arch bridge spans 234 ft across US36.
